  • Condition: The 4 peeler-corers are in used condition and have acquired differing levels of light surface blemishes, oxidation and/or natural patina across their metal surfaces. The wood handle on the Ekco peeler was originally painted yellow with a white stripe separating the black tip. The paint on the handle has worn/chipped off over the years from honest use and age. The handles on the other 3 peelers all show honest age/wear from use throughout the decades before they were placed in storage. The wood has darkened from handling and is worn smooth. The pieces are exactly as found and are being offered in "as is" condition. I decided to keep the pieces in their original found state as I did not want to distract from their quaint rustic farmhouse appeal. I believe the Ekco peeler with the yellow painted handle dates to the mid-1940's to mid-1950's. The other 3 peelers are much older and have all been repaired/modified sometime in the distant past by my grandfather who never threw anything away.

    Description

    For your consideration is this lot of (4) four assorted
    vintage
    vegetable/fruit peelers-corers.  The lot has (1) one Ekco brand peeler-corer and (3) three unbranded peeler-corers.  These four utensils were my grandmother's and were recently rediscovered and unpacked after having been in storage for over the past 56 years.  These peeler-corers were very old back then when we cleaned out her country home in order to settle her estate so I know they date back long before the early 1960's.

    I believe the Ekco peeler with the yellow painted handle dates to the mid-1940's to mid-1950's.  The other three peelers are much older and have all been repaired/modified sometime in the distant past by my grandfather who never threw anything away if it could be fixed.  The aforementioned (3) three peelers were re-handled with either a piece of scrap wood dowel or a piece of .50" squared pine wood.  The peeler with the squared wood handle appears to have a Phillips head screw driver tip holding the peeler to the handle.  This wouldn't surprise me in the least as my grandfather was a very resourceful man and often utilized any and everything that may have been at his immediate disposal.

    Overall, this lot of (4) four vintage peeler-corers are genuine 60 to 70+ year old kitchen utensils that remain in good condition and are exactly as you would like to find these type pieces.  There is a little light surface rust on the one peeler's blade but the other three have very clean steel blades.  Once again, these peelers are in "as found condition" and inasmuch may still have decades of accumulated dust on them.  Please refer to the description photos to confirm the condition of the peeler-corers and for more details about what I have described.
