    Description

    This is an incredible large, papier mache mask handmade in the 1800s for the depiction of GOLIATH for the ODD FELLOWS SECRET SOCIETY. Incredible folk art! Odd. Rare. Each was made uniquely, and most did not last very long. Horse hair used for his hair and beard. The beard still has great form and shape. In rather good condition considering it’s age and construction.
    Used in Esoteric Rituals of the Story of David and Goliath in the Masonic inspired Independent “Order of Odd Fellows”. I believe there are others that have Goliath’s eyes closed for an after-death depiction. This once belonged to a lodge in the former Odd Fellows Temple.
    Total length with beard is approximately 18 inches. Head alone is 12 inches and 14 inches tall.
