Here is a recent estate find. This is a Rare Antique "Named" Nineteenth Century Ceremonial Fraternal "Patriarchs Militant" IOOF Odd Fellows Sword, made by Horstmann & Sons Philadelphia PA. USA.  This is Very Rare as the
The Patriarchs Militant are the Uniformed Branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF), One of the Oldest and Largest Fraternal Orders in the World Today. The Patriarchs Militant were established by the Sovereign Grand Lodge - The International Governing Body of Odd Fellowship - back in 1885. The Blade is Very Clean and Etched with the Former Owner's Name "J.W. Maskell". It is also is Signed by the Maker Horstmann.  The Brass Scabbard is Original has Intricate Applied Ornate Designs. The Sword measures approx. 36" long with the Scabbard. The Sword itself measures approx. 35 5/8" long with a 29 7/8" Blade. The Sword has a Wire Wrapped Leather Handle and Aristocratic Crowned Globe Pommel. The Brass Cross Guard has Ornate Designs in High Relief of "King's Crown, Sword and Staff" and "The Three Links Of Odd Fellowship"
